My farm is my teacher and my classroom. In combination with weather, I am always challenged to understand how this twenty-six acres manages to provide so much in food, wildlife, bounty and beauty. The farm is a mile from the Mississippi River, the major central flyway for migratory birds. Birds are great allies as insect predators and their activities and song are a constant indicator of the habitat quality of the farm. Quail in the garden is a pinnacle.
